Happy New Year! We are excited to be back and we will be finishing this term with plenty to do. We will begin to assess reading and writing with the students. Please remember to return the Snuggle Up books every Monday. Remember to ask your child to retell the story that she/he has read to you, and your child needs to be able to answer comprehension questions about the book she/he has read.
Number knowledge will continue as we learn to recognize numbers up to 100 and count by 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s. As well, we will be counting backwards from 20 by 1s starting on any number and by 2s and 5s starting on 20.
With the cool weather upon us, please make sure your child comes to school with the necessary clothing that will keep him or her warm when playing outdoors – especially during the 40 minute lunch recess. Packing extra pairs of mittens, socks and pants (since the bottoms become quite wet) is a good idea. The school policy is that children will be going outside unless the temperature is below -25°C. Please visit the school website for more information and a link to the cold weather policy.
